When it comes to electrical services, you name it and McGervey Electric can address it. From residential, to commercial, to industrial, to bucket truck services, to design-build and engineering services, McGervey Electric has been serving the electrical needs of western Pennsylvania since 1978.

Whether the need is simply installing a new ceiling fan, adding receptacles, upgrading your electric service, installing a car charger or adding a whole-house generator, McGervey Electric’s service technicians can provide the same level of service, each and every time. The service technicians arrive in uniform and in a marked van, so that they are easily identified and present a professional image our clients have grown to expect.
Licensed, insured and registered to work throughout the region including the City of Pittsburgh, McGervey Electric and its employees not only are prepared to help you fix whatever electrical problems you may have, they’re also conscientiously following all COVID-19 related precautions and guidance when entering and working within your home.
Founded in 1978, Chuck McGervey, Sr., and his son, Chuck, Jr., set out on their own as electrical contractors serving local homes with quality work at a fair price.
“My father and I were working out of our house as residential electricians,” Chuck, Jr., said. “He was working for another company at the time and we started this business as a weekend and night thing. He liked doing smaller jobs and we grew it from there.”
In the ensuing years, McGervey Electric became one of the region’s premier electrical service contractors with more than 20 employees and over a dozen trucks working all over the region.
“We grew by word of mouth. We’d put in an outlet for Mrs. Jones and her husband would take our business card to work and we started doing commercial work and construction,” Chuck, Jr., said. “We still handle any job, large or small. We’ve come a long way on just word of mouth and a little ad in the local church bulletin.”
In the community, Chuck, Jr., has been a volunteer firefighter with the Castle Shannon Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years, serving 10 of those as president of the organization. The company also supports local school sports teams and functions.
What’s more, his son, Matthew, took a role in the company five years ago, and will be the third generation growing the business for years to come.
